Iterative Layering

I duplicate the original photo, alter it slightly, blend it, and repeat for as many as 20 layers.  The results are always different for each image and a source of endless experimentation.  The layering tends to cause a loss of detail, so I frequently add back a piece of the original image to give the eye a place to land.
